It describes the process using 5 steps. 1 how to layout the rim boards, 2 how to set the rim joists and floor joists, 3 nailing the rim joists to the floor joists, 4 attach the floor framing to. I'm currently drawing up the plans for a shed i'm going to be building, and i'd like a second (or more) opinion on what the the spacing should be for the floor joists? the shed in question will be 5.4m x 2.3m with 47mm x 75mm timber for the joists and 11mm osb for the floor itself. thanks. tom. I know this is rather late but i've taken everyones advice and opted for the 18mm osb for the shed floor while using the 2x3 at 16" centres in either direction for the floor joists. what spacing would everyone recommend for the walls and ceiling using the same materials as those for the floor? thanks. tom p.s.. Minimum building code requirements allow spacing both wall and floor joists at 24" centres. no problem doing this if the shed is only 12x12. if you go 24" centres i would suggest cladding the exterior walls with osb or plywood for wind bracing. for a 12 ft floor joist span i would suggest 2x8 if 24" centres, 2x6 if 16" centres and 2x4 if 12.
